Remember when every Amazon Seller’s top concern was their Review Rating? Well, long gone are those days — as Amazon has now begun making Sales Data Public. Now, in select categories, potential customers can see the amount ordered in the past month displayed within Search Results and PDPs (Product Display Pages).
How Did Amazon Make Sales Data Public?
Amazon has started adding the amount purchased within search results and PDPs, however, the data is not available for all ASINs or across all categories. We can assume that eventually, this will be rolled out across the board, but for now, your products may not have this feature yet.
Why Should Sellers Care?
Your product could have a perfect 5-Star rating, with tons of great reviews — however, if you run into a stock out, leading to no sales in the past month or more, Amazon will display your lack of sales. Most customers will choose a product with hundreds of sales within the past month, compared to a product with only a few sales (or no sales at all). It’s more important than ever to ensure your Amazon inventory is adequately stocked to prevent this.
What Can Sellers do to Increase Sales?
We recommend Sellers to first check their Potential Sales Lift dashboard within Seller Central for immediate actions that can be taken to improve sales, along with the expected “Sales Lift” dollar amount. For more information about this tool, check out our previous article.
