Automated Handling Time Setting Now Available for Amazon FBM Sellers

Prime customers have especially high standards when it comes to delivery timeframes being met – so it's important to provide extremely accurate shipping and handling times when selling on Amazon. The new Automated Handling Time setting in Seller Central makes setting up accurate handling time easier than ever before. Sellers can use the Automated Handling Time setting to add accurate handling times to their products on the SKU level, based on fulfillment history.

When Should Amazon Sellers Enable the Automated Handling Time Setting?

If you haven’t already taken the time to optimize your handling time on the SKU level, enabling the Automated Handling Time setting is a good idea and can help save you time and effort. Enabling the setting will provide your customers with more accurate delivery timeframes, resulting in happier customers.

Amazon claims that at least 85% of orders are already being fulfilled within 1 day. The Automated Handling Time setting will allow sellers to advertise these quicker handling times to customers, potentially converting into more sales.

However, if you've already optimized your handling times, enabling this setting could undo those specifications, resulting in unrealistic handling times being set. We recommend being extra careful when determining whether the Automated Handling Time setting is right for your business before enabling the feature.

How to Configure Automated Handling Time in Seller Central

To set up automated handling time in Seller Central, go to the Automated Handling Time Settings page. From here, you can activate the setting.

Note: On October 31, Amazon announced that they auto-enrolled sellers to enable the Automated Handling Time setting. If you wish to opt out, click the switch on the settings page, and confirm that your status is not active (as shown above).
