Changes Coming to Order Capacity Limit Settings on Amazon

Changes to the Order Handling Capacity setting on Amazon Seller Central are coming soon. Starting February 24, 2025, Amazon will be setting minimum thresholds to prevent sellers from setting their capacity limits too low. While it’s natural to want to play it safe, some sellers may be unintentionally limiting their growth by being too cautious with their daily order limit. This change is designed to help sellers seize more sales opportunities, preventing limited growth.

How Do the Changes to Amazon Order Capacity Settings Impact Sellers?

If you’re a merchant-fulfilled seller on Amazon who relies on the daily order limit setting, you may be impacted, especially if you were entering a more conservative number. Amazon takes the daily order average from the past 30 days and creates a conservative estimate of how many orders you can handle in one day, making that the minimum.

There’s been some confusion among sellers about how this will work, especially with the way Amazon worded the update. To clear things up, an Amazon Moderator responded in a Seller Forum post that they are not setting a cap on order capacity, but instead establishing a minimum threshold. Here is the response from Amazon’s seller forum Moderator:

Hoping to clear the air as this is not what this policy is saying in the slightest. This minimum is going to essentially be the lowest number of orders allowed for your order handling capacity to be set at. That maximum can be as high as you'd like it to be but can only go as low as this minimum number that will be conservatively based on your average daily orders over the past 30 days.” - Jim_Amazon
