COVID-19 Stimulus Checks Boost Brands’ Amazon Sales

Many Americans received their stimulus checks between April 14–16.

This money was designed to go back into the economy—and it seems like many people did just that. Across the board, we noticed huge sales increases across many of our brands:

  • One beauty brand had their second-highest sales day of the year—a 41% increase based on the previous 7 days average.
  • A hair care brand had their highest ad sales day  of the year—a 17.7% increase based on the previous 7 days average.
  • A men’s shoe brand saw a 123% increase in impressions and 46% increase in sales based on the previous 7 days average.
  • A men’s supplements brand had consecutive record sales days on April 14 and 15.
  • A brand that sells lightbulbs had their second-highest sales day on April 15 (their highest sales day was on March 17).

These brands, which showcase a large variety of industries, all saw noticeable lifts between April 14–16, when the stimulus checks were first distributed via direct deposit. We expect to continue to see lifts as physical checks are mailed out in the coming weeks.

Some of these brands had been doing well on Amazon before this, but others had been struggling. Regardless of previous sales trends since the beginning of March, brands saw a lift.
